After a concussion or mild traumatic brain injury (TBI) from a work or auto accident, symptoms like brain fog, headaches, or attention problems can linger. While standard imaging like MRI might be normal, understanding how your brain is functioning is key. The Brainview assessment at Advantage Healthcare uses advanced EEG technology to provide objective data on your brain’s electrical activity, helping us better understand the physiological effects of your injury and guide your recovery plan.
(Note: Assumes Brainview is an EEG/qEEG system. Adjust wording if it uses different technology.)
This assessment can provide insights when:
You’ll sit comfortably in a chair. A cap with sensors, or individual sensors, will be placed on your scalp using a conductive gel or paste to ensure good contact.
You’ll be asked to relax, sometimes with eyes open and sometimes with eyes closed, while the sensors record the natural electrical activity (brainwaves) produced by your brain. The procedure is painless and non-invasive.
The recorded data (EEG) is then often processed using sophisticated software (quantitative EEG or qEEG) to compare your brainwave patterns to normative databases, identifying potential areas of dysregulation related to your injury.
No, the test is painless. You simply relax while the sensors passively record your brain’s activity. The gel used to apply sensors washes out easily afterward.
It’s usually recommended to come with clean, dry hair free of heavy products. Avoid caffeine for several hours beforehand. Follow any specific instructions provided by our clinic.
It measures the speed and patterns of electrical activity (brainwaves) in different parts of your brain, looking for deviations from normal patterns that might indicate effects from an injury.
Coverage for qEEG-based assessments like Brainview can vary. While increasingly used, it may still be considered investigational by some insurers. We can discuss coverage and authorization options with you.
