Work Hardening

Functioning as a multi-disciplinary, comprehensive program, Work Hardening combines work simulation with strengthening and behavioral components. Beginning with a job analysis, the Hardening Program focuses on the demands of the individuals occupation. This program is designed to return patients to work with the highest possible level of independent functioning. Evaluation reports show that about 65% of patients attending the Work Hardening Program return to work within 3 months of discharge. Optimizing physical tolerances and abilities, reducing fear and increasing confidence, developing appropriate work behaviors, maximizing cognitive and psycho social functioning, and identifying work limitations are goals that are set within our Work Hardening Program.
